Palette I/O

The Palette I/O toolbar buttons allow Fred's Fractal Viewer to export and import palettes to/from the Palette Selector application.

The import palette button() copies the current palette in the Palette Selector application into Fred's local palette. This button is sticky, so that once pressed, it stays depressed until you click it again. When the button is depressed, Fred's palette is continuously updated with whatever palette is stored in the Palette Selector. If the Spectrum Gradient application is configured to continuously export palettes to the Palette Selector, then you can interactively create Fred's palette in real time.

If the Import Palette button is depressed when you change Fred's palette locally such as by jumping to a new locale, then Fred's palette will not match the palette in the Palette Selector. Fred's palette will remain unchanged until you change the palette in the Palette Selector. This behaviour is a deliberate compromise that we designed in.

The launch Palette Selector button() launches the Palette Selector application.

The export palette button() copies Fred's palette into the Palette Selector application.
